Types of Coffee and Brewing Methods

In order to understand the various types of coffee and brewing methods, it is necessary to examine the different types, such as cezve coffee (Turkish Coffee), espresso derivatives, Nescafe (soluble, instant coffee) and filter coffee.

Cezve Coffee

Cezve coffee is the oldest known method of brewing coffee and is preferred because it can be easily prepared at home. This traditional method, which is widely used in Turkish and Islamic geography, has various rituals and variations. Cezve coffee, unlike other brewing methods, is the only method in which the coffee pulp is served in a glass without being filtered. Cezve coffee, prepared using finely ground coffee, has a unique aroma and flavor.

Espresso and Derivatives

Espresso is a special type of coffee brewed under pressure. It is obtained with pressurized hot water passed through ground coffee beans in a suitable fineness. Espresso is an intensely flavored and sharp-smelling beverage. Different types, such as cafe lattes and cappuccinos prepared with hot milk and milk foam, can be created by adding milk to espresso. Espresso is also used as the primary ingredient of different drinks, and various drinks such as americano and mocha can be made with additions such as water, milk or chocolate.

Nescafe

Nescafe is a brand of instant instant coffee produced by Nestle. Coffee beans are brewed with high pressure and hot water, followed by chemical treatments to obtain a drinkable aroma. The resulting liquid is quickly cooled and packed into solid granules. Nescafe is a chemical beverage consumed by dissolving it with hot water. Instant coffees, which are available at affordable prices in the markets, may be far from the real coffee taste due to aroma and chemicals.

Filter Coffee

Filter coffee is a brewing method made by brewing ground coffee beans with hot water. Unlike Turkish coffee, the remaining coffee pulp in filter coffee is not consumed. Filter coffee is a beverage that is not as intense as espresso and has a milder aroma. The filter paper used while brewing filter coffee keeps the oils and provides a cleaner flavor. In this method, it is possible to discover various notes of coffees with different tastes and aromas. Filter coffee brewing methods include options such as French Press, Chemex, Hario V60, filter coffee machine, siphon, Aeropress and American Press.

Coffee represents a wide variety of beverages with different types and brewing methods. Each method offers unique flavors and aromas so that coffee can be chosen according to personal preferences.
